Members Advantage Community Credit Union is a full service financial cooperative that serves approximately 8,000 members.  We currently have two full service branch offices in Barre and White River Junction Vermont.

Members Advantage Community Credit Union became our new name on January 1, 2006.  This is the effective date of when Central Vermont Teachers Credit Union and Windsor-Orange County Credit Union formed an alliance to provide a higher level of service and benefits to the membership.  We are committed to maintaining the philosophy and history of the two previous credit unions as we use the effficiencies gained to best serve the membership.

History

Central Vermont Teachers Credit Union:  On February 5, 1953 the Articles of Association for Central Vermont Teachers' Credit Union were approved by the commissioner of Vermont’s Banking Department.  Initially we could only accept members from Barre City, Barre Town, and Montpelier Schools.  Our first president was Harold Shipp and the first Treasurer was Elizabeth White.  In 1953 we had 59 members with total assets of $2,018.  For the first 10 years of existence the credit union was run out of the school where the treasurer was located.

Windsor-Orange County Credit Union:  The Windsor-Orange County Credit Union was founded on January 15, 1953 by a group of educators from the Hartford Teacher's Association. They saw an opportunity to bring financial services to others at a lower cost. The Credit Union grew over the years to include town employees and school employees of the Windsor and Orange Counties, and several other local employer groups.

"Members Advantage Community Credit Union strives to be the primary financial resource for its membership by providing personal service, convenience and competitive rates."

The Credit Union Difference

Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives serving members who share something in common - employment, association membership, or residence in a particular geographic area.  Founded on the basic democratic premise of the cooperative movement, credit unions believe that access to low-cost financial services is critical to the health and stability of ordinary citizens. In fact, more than 67 million Americans trust that their credit union will provide the services to improve their financial well being.

Credit union membership offers many benefits. Services offered range from simple savings to home equity loans to IRAs. Study after study has revealed that on average, credit unions provide the best financial offerings with fewer fees, lower rates on loans and higher rates on savings. And credit unions continually score higher than all other financial institutions in consumer satisfaction surveys.  Credit unions strive to deliver the best service possible to their most important asset - their members.

Make the most of your credit union FIRST! Members Advantage Community Credit Union offers a wide variety of financial services to fit your every need. It also has the advantage of being a not-for-profit financial institution owned by its members, YOU. You elect the Board of Directors, which is the governing body of the Credit Union. You are further supported by the Supervisory Committee, which oversees the accuracy of all the credit union accounts. Members Advantage Community Credit Union has a hard working staff that cares about you and will take the time to listen and answer any questions you may have. The difference is simple--

"People helping people"

--that's a motto the
Credit Union stands by.
