On Wednesday April 19th, our credit union was notified by our debit card issuer and MasterCard that approximately 200 of our members’ debit cards may be at risk due to a breach at a retailer.
Given the nature of the breach and the activity identified on this small number of accounts, these 200 debit cards were deactivated on the signature side to protect our members. This means members are still able to use their card by using their PIN number for each transaction. The deactivation timing was swift in an effort to mitigate further exposure to this breach.
For those MACCU Debit Cards on the list of compromised cards, one of our member service representatives will contact members directly to inform them of the next steps. Please note that these phone calls may come from a branch different than the branch a member usually visits.
Please call or stop by with any questions you may have.
